Did you make a New Year’s resolution for 2010? We did. Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) resolved to help more Nevadans buy a home of their own! We’ve done this before. Since 2006, we’ve helped over 500 Nevada families purchase their first homes and we’re launching a new program that could help even more.

NRHA’s Home At Last™ Bond Program provides the lowest mortgage rates in our history: 5 3/8 with a 3% down payment grant or an unbelievable 4 7/8 without down payment assistance. While we are pretty darn proud of the work we do here providing safe, affordable housing for our fellow Nevadans, we couldn’t do it alone. And we don’t do it alone. This new bond program, like many of our first-time homebuyer financing programs, is possible because of the support we get from Nevada’s incorporated city and county governments. When they transfer their Private Activity Bond Cap allocations to us, we are able to pool those allocations, along with allocations from the State, and do something really exciting and effective, like the Home At Last™ Bond Program.

The Nevada Rural Housing Authority is a frequent and ardent collaborator. So many of our challenges are too big to tackle alone. Afterall, we are only a staff of 23. We have so many great ideas about developing affordable housing that we often need partners to help bring our dreams and visions to fruition. Besides Nevada’s city and county governments, we regularly partner with the Reno Housing Authority, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, US Department of Agriculture Rural Development, Rural Community Assistance Corporation and Nevada Rural Development Corporation.
