First Time Homebuyer Credit Extended
President Obama signed the extention of the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit on November 9, 2009. Qualified first time homebuyers are eligible for up to an $8,000 tax credit for purchasing a new home. The credit has been extended to cover purchases made before May 1, 2010. The extension also extends a $6,500 maximum credit to new home purchases for current homeowners who have been in their principal residence for at least five of the last eight years.
