Essential support for those in need

Long known as Section 8, the Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program helps low income Nevadans secure safe, affordable housing.

Rental Assistance
Section 8

The Nevada Rural Housing Authority provides rental assistance to low-income households, the disabled, elderly and veterans through the federally funded Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance program.

Our HCV rental assistance program increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by allowing families, elderly and disabled persons to choose privately owned rental housing. In addition to rental subsidies, we also provide security deposit assistance.

Determine your eligibility for rental assistance

Eligibility is determined by a household’s gross annual income and is different in each county. Once you have reached the top of the waiting list, you will be sent a letter requesting additional information and updating information previously sent to our office. Your eligibility will be determined at that time and after all requested paperwork is submitted to the office, you will be sent a letter inviting you to attend a briefing.

NOTE: Even if you are renting from a Landlord who accepts a voucher, you will NOT have preference over other applicants. We assist applicants based on the date and time the application was received in our office.
