The Section 8 Program provides rental assistance to low-income families, elderly and disabled persons.

Our waiting list at the present time is open with an approximate waiting period of 18 to 24 months. For an application please contact our office at 775-887-1795 or e-mail us at help@nvrural.org.

Eligibility is determined by the family’s gross annual income and is different in each County. Once it is determined you are eligible and have reached the top of the waiting list you will be sent a letter to attend a briefing. The Housing Authority does have a list of units available in the area however we do not find a unit for you and will not suggest one unit over another.

Once you are on the program you will be assigned an Occupancy Specialist (Caseworker) who you will contact for any changes to your file such as income changes and family changes in your household.

NOTE: If you are renting from a Landlord who accepts Section 8 you will NOT have preference over other applicants. We assist applicants based on the date and time the application was received into our office.
