Rental Assistance
Rental Assistance – Opening more doors across Nevada
The Nevada Rural Housing Authority provides rental assistance to low-income families through the federally funded Housing Choice Rental Assistance program.
Our Rental Assistance Program increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by allowing families, elderly and disabled persons to choose privately owned rental housing. In addition to rental subsidies, we also provide security deposit assistance.

Currently, our Rental Assistance waiting list is open with an approximate waiting period of 18 to 24 months. Eligibility is determined by the family’s gross annual income and is different in each County. Once your eligibility is determined and you have reached the top of the waiting list, you will be sent a letter to attend a briefing.
The Nevada Rural Housing Authority does have a list of units available in the area, however we do not find a unit for you and will not suggest one unit over another.
Once you are on the program you will be assigned an Occupancy Specialist (Caseworker) who you will contact for any changes to your file such as income changes and family changes in your household.
NOTE: If you are renting from a Landlord who accepts Section 8 you will NOT have preference over other applicants. We assist applicants based on the date and time the application was received into our office.
